What Is a Rice Color Sorter?

A rice color sorter is an optical sorting machine designed to separate rice grains according to their color and appearance.

During the sorting process, rice grains pass through the sorting channel at high speed. High-resolution cameras and optical sensors detect differences in color between normal rice grains and defective grains.

When a defective grain is identified, the intelligent control system sends a signal to a high-speed air ejector. The ejector then removes the defective grain from the normal rice flow.

This process allows the machine to continuously separate unwanted grains while maintaining the quality of good rice.

What Can a Rice Color Sorter Remove?

Depending on the machine configuration and sorting requirements, a rice color sorter can be used to remove various types of defective grains, including:

Yellow grains;

Discolored grains;

Black grains;

Red grains;

Immature or damaged grains;

Mold-affected grains;

Foreign-colored particles;

Certain foreign materials with significant color differences.

The actual sorting performance depends on the raw rice quality, defect characteristics, machine configuration, and processing conditions.

How to Choose a Suitable Rice Color Sorter?

When selecting a rice color sorter, customers should consider more than just machine capacity.

Important factors include:

Rice processing capacity;

Raw rice variety;

Percentage and type of defective grains;

Required sorting accuracy;

Finished rice quality requirements;

Number of sorting channels;

Air consumption;

Control system;

Ease of operation and maintenance;

Compatibility with the existing rice milling line.

For small rice mills, medium-sized processing plants, and large automated rice mills, the appropriate color sorter configuration can be selected according to the actual production requirements.
