The production of steel grain silos typically utilizes hot-rolled or cold-rolled carbon structural steel plates that comply with national standards. The plate thickness is determined based on the silo's capacity and load-bearing requirements, generally ranging from 3 to 6 millimeters. These steel plates undergo rigorous inspection to ensure they are free of cracks, corrosion, or other defects. Subsequently, they are cut and processed-in strict accordance with design blueprints-to create the silo shell sections, as well as openings for inlets, outlets, inspection ports, and ventilation vents. Cutting is typically performed using CNC plasma or laser cutting equipment to ensure dimensional precision and prevent assembly errors during the subsequent construction phase. Once the steel plates have been processed, they are rolled into cylindrical sections using plate-rolling machines; these sections are then segmented and joined according to the structural design to facilitate ease of transport and on-site installation.

 

Upon completion of the cylindrical sections, the welding and assembly processes commence. The steel shell sections first undergo longitudinal welding; these weld seams are typically executed using an automated submerged arc welding process to ensure both structural integrity and airtightness. For multi-section silos, the individual segments are assembled into a complete cylindrical structure using either flanged connections or bolted joints. The installation of the base plate and roof plate is equally critical: the base plate, which bears the entire weight of the silo, must be leveled and reinforced prior to welding; the roof plate-typically conical or domed in shape-requires the installation of ventilation vents and rain covers once its welding is complete. Finally, upon the full assembly of the silo, surface treatment is performed; this includes sandblasting to remove rust, the application of anti-corrosive paint, and-where necessary-hot-dip galvanizing to enhance durability and longevity.
